Air Fried Apple Wedges with Caramel Whipped Cream Dipping Sauce

Equipment Needed

  • Air Fryer
  • Medium mixing bowl
  • Large bowl and hand mixer (or whisk) for whipped cream
  • Sharp knife and cutting board
  • Pastry brush (optional)
  • Measuring spoons

Step-by-Step Instructions

First, I preheat my air fryer to 380°F (193°C). This quick preheat helps the apples start cooking immediately for a better texture. While it heats, I grab my apples. I core them and cut each one into 8-10 wedges, like little apple fries. The skin can stay on—it adds nice texture and nutrients. I toss these wedges into my medium mixing bowl. In a small dish, I melt the butter and stir in the granulated sugar and cinnamon until it forms a loose, fragrant paste.

I pour this cinnamon-sugar butter over the apple wedges. Using my hands or a spatula, I toss and massage every single wedge until they’re all evenly coated and glistening. This step is so important—you want that sugary mixture to cling to every surface for maximum caramelization. I learned that just drizzling the butter and sprinkling the sugar separately leads to uneven coating and some sad, plain spots.(See the next page below to continue…)
